If I require counselling, does that mean I’m not “normal?

We all have same core values and principles but the difference arises in prioritizing. Taking up counseling simply means you are perhaps in a situation, which may be an external or internal situation, where you are confused and disturbed and you need help to work with that situation.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a trust based relationship between the therapist and the client. Honesty from both the sides is beneficial. It is a kind of “talk therapy”. It promotes mental health and well-being, enhances self -understanding and resolves the identified concerns.

What to expect from counselling?

Our feelings depend on how we think about ourselves, others and our situations. A therapist is able to help you look at the negative or irrational patterns of thinking, which provides you with some clarity of perspective and helps you

How long will counselling last?

It depends on factors like your history, social supports, session frequency and your goal. It’s important to set a clearly defined goal so that you know when change has happened.

How do I know when I am ready to discontinue counselling?

When you feel confident in the skills needed to maintain treatment gains, you are ready to discontinue. Abruptly putting a halt to counselling is not encouraged; instead a gradual decrease in the frequency of the sessions is suggested as a better option.
